The National Strength and Conditioning Association’s annual conference was great and is an experience that I recommend to all personal trainers and strength coaches.NSCA's National Conference

Any good fitness professional should be interested in learning and expanding their horizons and take advantage – as much as possible – of the opportunities to do so.  The NSCA’s annual conference is just such an occasion.  Regardless of where you are in our profession, you will be better at what you do as a result of attending this show.

Granted a trip to Las Vegas, Orlando, New Orleans or any other site of this kind of convention can be a strain on your budget.  However, taking advantage of this kind of learning opportunity should be viewed as a chance to help improve the bottom lines.

I learned something valuable during every session, made some new connections and saw some familiar faces during my 3-days in Vegas.  From the presentations I gleaned useful information and insight that I’ve been able to incorporate into my training sessions and that will enable me to continue to improve as a personal trainer and strength coach.

In addition to learning, the info provided by the speakers at the convention also served to stimulate my thought process and has helped me to come up with some unique new strategies and ideas that I’ve used in my training sessions.  It was a treat to listen to top professionals in the field like Vern Gambetta, Gray Cook, and Greg Myer and after to speak with Boyd Epley and others who are involved in making the NSCA the finest strength and conditioning organization in the world.

Walking through the exhibition center was another learning experience as I discovered some great new products, a few of which will help me improve the service and the bottom line at my facility. If you kept up with the updates that I provided from the show you already know that I loved the goings on in Vegas, and if you haven’t read any of them I recommend that you check them out so that you’ll see what you missed and start thinking about – and planning to go to – next year’s show in Orlando.

Next up is the NSCA’s personal trainer conference that will also be held in Vegas in February of 2010.  I can’t wait!
