Testimonials

Sal is one of the most professional people I know, in any industry. I worked out with Sal for my entire high school athletic career as a pole vaulter and wouldn’t have been as successful as I was without his training (I was all conference, all county, all section, all group and ranked in the top ten for the state of New Jersey).  Sal’s philosophy not only produced great results by improving my performance, but his workouts are fun as well.  You never know what you’re walking into.  How many people do you know that have fun at their gym?

As I grow my own career as a personal trainer/gym owner (CrossFit in Hoboken, NJ) I have adopted Sal’s philosophies and methods.  In treating clients as Sal taught me to, with the “gold standard”, not only have I established great client retention for my business, but I have earned their respect and loyalty which is all you need to be successful.

Sal is a great mentor to me and helped solidify my initiative to open my gym.  I know I will look to him throughout my career for guidance. Thanks Sal.

“Once upon a time, I was actually afraid of the treadmill! Now, more than 10 years of working with Sal, I wouldn’t give him up for the world! Sal has created an individualized program for me that has become an integral part of my life and will continue to be so!  We have worked on a broad spectrum of exercises as well as specific skills to enhance my tennis playing.

The result is a feel-good feeling from a physical as well as a mental standpoint point. I like what I’m doing while I’m doing it and enjoy the results that I’ve seen. There’s no stopping me now! Thank you, Sal!

Coach Marinello,

My father sent me a message about writing a testimonial for you. I am grateful that I will be able to help you, and I want to thank you once again for all of your help.

Coach Marinello provided me with the discipline and encouragement to successfully train for my Cadet Physical Training Test to enter West Point.  The techniques that he taught me were exactly what I needed for me to be a well qualified physical candidate, and successfully complete Beast Barracks (West Point’s Version of Boot Camp). I would recommend him to anyone requiring assistance in not only physical training, but the mental training that is also necessary to complete the rigor of a military lifestyle.

Very Respectfully,
Cadet Pvt. Alexander Boroff – 19 years old – West Point Military Academy, NY

“I have been training with Sal at his facility for 15 years, and throughout these years he has taken great care to tailor workouts to my needs.  As I’ve progressed Sal has consistently adjusted my workouts to reflect these improvements.  As a result, the workouts are always different, never boring and challenging.  My friends tell me that I am the strongest 60-year old woman they know!  I feel great and think that I am in such wonderful condition because of my ongoing relationship with Sal.”

Carol Gelber – 63 – Manhattan, NY

With a family history that included diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer just to name a few it was imperative that I seek the help of a professional to try to insure my future didn’t include those ills. Little did I know my association with Sal would yield so much more.  Using a combination of the most current techniques he has taken me to a level of fitness I thought was only achievable as a much younger person. I now easily do cardio, weightlifting and many exercise routines that become so enjoyable under Sal’s guidance I don’t even ask the name.

It has gotten to the point that I have put off business obligations for fear they will affect my ability to attend the gym. As a bonus, Sal has trained my wife taking her to a much higher plane of fitness and much to his credit my daughter was sent to college as a division 1 gymnast more fit and ready as a direct result of her trainer’s expertise. I for one try not to imagine what problems I may have avoided by maintaining my relationship with Sal.

“Sal Marinello is a person that sees an athlete/person for who they are and understands what it takes for that individual to meet personal goals.  His workouts are demanding, learning to use proper technique/form maximizing results.  I was an All-Conference division 3 athlete who went to Sal in pursuit of a dream to play professional football.  He demonstrated different exercises giving me an opportunity to work on my weaknesses.

A year later I signed a contract an undrafted/futures contract with the Baltimore Ravens.  I could not have done this without his help and belief in me as an athlete.  His workout philosophies should be more mainstream because the traditional way of over-lifting when completed incorrectly damages the body in the long run.  Sal allowed me to achieve my goals in addition to becoming a great mentor.
Thanks Sal”

I am truly grateful that I have been able to work with Sal all of these years.

I have been working with Sal for over 10 years and as a result have the strength, stamina and patience that allows me to keep up with a very busy schedule.

Six years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my physicians encouraged me to continue my exercise sessions. Sal adjusted my workouts so that I was able to continue to exercise during my 8 months of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and as a result, I was better able to handle both the physical and emotional effects of my treatment.

Harriet Morowitz – 64 Long Beach Island, NJ (Watch a clip of Harriet that’s in my post about half hour sessions!)

I am a mother of four and have been a religious walker/attempted jogger since I was 17 doing 4 miles a day, usually 7 days a week.  This was easy for me to do even if I was exhausted from the kids and it was the only time I had to myself so I treasured it.  However, after 18 years of doing this and watching what I ate I maintained my weight but never achieved the body I was wanting, while putting a lot of stress on my body.

After three months of training with Sal I have noticed significant changes in my strength, body shape and increased energy throughout the day as a result.  My posture has improved and as a result, I am no longer getting the headaches I used to get at the base of my neck.  I am also enjoying taking days off to rest my muscles and not feeling the need to exercise every day for fear I’ll gain a pound. While I do look forward to my workouts, I know in the long run by doing the higher intensity and lower volume, I am saving my body from possible overuse injury as well as lowering my risk for osteoporosis which is in my genes.

I cannot say enough about this program and Sal’s philosophy and approach which are so realistic!  His diverse range of exercises make every workout fun and challenging.  He has taught me principles I can apply at home with dumbbells and a kettle bell.  My kids (9, 7, and twins that are 4) love to join in my calisthenics too!  So I feel like I’m doing a great thing for myself as well as providing them with a good role model of health and fitness!

Sal is one the most knowledgeable and innovative individuals in his field. I have coached with him for 10 years; he has worked with my son and has conducted several in-service training sessions for my staff. He is always searching for “a better way” to train his athletes and his clients, and actively shares his knowledge. Whenever I have a question about physical fitness, nutrition or health and wellness Sal is the first person I contact. His guidance and expertise has helped me professionally and personally.
